When
Shane Mosley decided to fight Winky Wright and give him
a chance at the big time, which no one else was willing
to do, Mosley genuinely thought he would be victorious.
he was all smiles and charismatic as ever.
It was Wright who was serious and brooding.
Today, at their press conference it was Wright who was
all smiles and beaming with confidence. Sugar Shane Mosley
was a snarling, agitated fighter who looked as if he didn't
want to be there talking up a fight which has all the
makings of a real war. there was no trash talk from the
two champions, but you could feel the tension in the room
and it was all over at Mosley's side.
First
to the stage was Winky Wright and trainer Dan Burmingham
who both casually stepped up the stairs smiling and waving
to the fans in attendance. Next it was Joe Goossen, Mosley's
new trainer, then Mosley ran up the stairs and sat next
to Goossen. Gary Shaw said a few words then he opened
the press conference up for question time to team Mosley
and team Wright. The usual questions were asked when a
rematch comes around and things were going fine until
Winky's manager decided to get involved. This guy didn't
miss a beat and rapped the crap out of Shane Mosley. Obviously
Mosley took a dislike to this kind of behavior and decided
to give a bit back to the wisecracking trash talking rapper.
Gary Shaw stepped in and put a bit of class back into
proceedings, but you could see Mosley was visibly shaken
by the events.
I also noticed Mosley's father and ex-trainer standing
at the back of the large ballroom keeping a low profile.
Afterwards I interviewed Winky Wright, and asked him about
the November 20th rematch He said he was confident he
would win and he felt that for Shane Mosley to have any
chance of winning the fight, he is the one who has to
change the way he fights. " I will fight my fight
, I wont be changing nothing" said Wright.
I then interviewed Mosley who said to me " I will
make the necessary changes to win this fight. I have been
working on a lot of new things with new trainer, Joe Goossen
and I have been training real hard in the gym." I
then asked him what things has he been working on and
he said he couldn't tell me.? He then left.
For Mosley, this is his last chance, he knows it and is
acting accordingly. Winky Wright is having the time of
his life and is enjoying every minute of it. one thing
is for sure, come November the 20th, Mosley v Wright 2
will be a real grudge match for Shane Mosley, it has to
be, but how could it be for Winky Wright?
How could you have a grudge with someone who gave you
your chance at the big time when no one else was willing
to do so.
