WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COMES TO MELBOURNE

It's been a while, but big time boxing is coming back to Melbourne. Tony Caradona, and Glenn Wheatley's "Blue Corner Promotions", in association with manager of champions, Stuart Duncan have come together to bring the boxing fans, an exciting , action packed night of entertainment.

Gary Todd with Robbie "Bomber" PedenThe venue will be "The Festival Hall", the date ,the 23rd of February, and top of the bill will be Australian , Robbie "Bomber" Peden,[ Wins 24 Losses 2 ] in a grudge rematch with the hard hitting Nate" The Galaxy Warrior" Campbell,[ Wins 25 Losses 2 Draws 1.] for the I.B.F. Super featherweight championship of the world. This should be a great scrap, as both fighters totally dislike one another, and Campbell has been doing plenty of trash talk, in the lead up to the fight.

In March, 2004, Peden took full advantage of Campbells taunting and foolishly dropping his hands while in the ring, and clobbered the American with a flush punch, which stopped him right on the spot, and knocked him out.

The rematch will be a no noncense, tear up, as they both know that one of them will go on to make a big pay day, next, and the other will simply fade away in this talent laden division.

Sam SolimanAlso on the card is The worlds busiest boxer, middleweight, Sam Soliman. He is matched for 10 rounds against the experienced Columbian fighter Miguel Julio. Julio has fought all over the world and has built up a good record, by fighting such guys like Philip Holiday, and Mikkel Kessler.

Shannan TaylorThis fight with Soliman is his last chance at the big time and he knows it.
Soliman also knows he must win convincingly, to stay with the big boys and the big paydays that lie ahead in 2005. If Soliman can win this fight, surely he will get a fight with Jermaine Taylor and ultimately Bernard " The Executioner" Hopkins titles later in the year.

In the main support to Soliman, "The Bulli Blaster" returns to Melbourne and he will be facing Jose Gomez, from The Dominican Republic, for the I.B.F. Pan Pacific Jnr middle weight title, and W.B.F. womans champion, Sharon "Wild Thing" Anyos will be putting her title on the line against Neris Rincon, from Argentina.

Sharon AnyosA welcome return to the ring for Maroubra's Jason Delisle who will be another Aussie who will be going all out in 2005,to carry on in 2005 where he left off in 2004, and fight his way, to a crack at the world championship. Delisle is matched to fight, the tough Dale Westerman in a unification bout at light heavy for the O.P.B.F. and I.B.F. Pan Pacific titles. in what should be another hard fight for the warrior Delisle.

Jason DelisleIf all this action is not enough , Micheal " Rocky" Katsidis takes on the Argentinian, Eduardo Alverez , in the final international bout of the evening.

Congratulations to everyone who had a hand in this excellent night of boxing. If we had more imaginative matchmaking like this, then maybe big time boxing would be back not only in Melbourne, but back , where it should be, in Australia.
