| In
this exclusive interview for Aussiebox,
Danny"The Green Machine" Green
has vowed to batter German, Marcus Beyer, when they
touch gloves on March the 12th. Tonight in Sydney, Green
worked out in front of a packed house at The Ritz Hotel,
and showed the fans who came that he was well on his
way to bringing home the W.B.C. belt to Australia. Trainer,
three time world champion, Jeff Fenech, took Danny through
a rigourous but controlled session on the focus pads,
before jumping rope and shadow boxing, that had the
fans on their feet, and cheering with excitement. After
the workout, Fenech and Green signed autographs and
mingled with the crowd which is always nice to see.
Later, myself and Danny had a chat, to discuss his fight
with Beyer and this is how it went.
GT: . Well Danny,
here you go again, packing your suitcase in search of
your dream?
DG:.
Yes Gary. its an honour for me, I never thought that
I would be here, but i'll be bringing the world title
back to Australia.
GT: Do you think Beyer
will fight the same, or do you think he will try to
do different things?
DG:
I think he will be better prepared this time round.
I hope so as I love to fight and I love to give a good
fight for the fans.
GT: do you think he
underestimated you in your first meeting?
DG:
Yes definately, this time he will be better trained,
he'll watch the tapes, he will be smarter, thats why
I am training like this. I want to fight and beat him
for twelve rounds.
GT: So that means
you dont think you need a ko?
DG:
That's right, I want to hit him for every minute of
every round to make up for the last time and let out
my frustrations on him from the last fight.
GT: How has your preparation
been going?
DG:
Really good. I've been working hard with Jeff, this
week, and I have been running really hard and training
twice a day - my body is responding well.
GT: Whats next, sparring?
DG:
We go to America on the 15th of february, for 3 weeks
then head to Germany from there. we get to Germany,
about 6 days before the fight.
GT: Do you have some
quality sparring lined up?
DG:
Jeff has some good guys lined up for me [smiles] [ note:
last time out, Danny was sparring Montell Grifiths and
word has it, he gave him all the trouble in the world]
GT: okay Danny, I
have to ask, when you fought Sean Sullivan, the whole
dehydration thing! How serious was it, and do you feel
as strong now?
DG:
Gary, I've been through this but I have to tell you
it was serious. I could have died, and I was delerious
after the fight. One doctor said it was the worst case
he had ever seen. To answer the question, I actually
feel stronger now, my right hand is stronger, and my
body is stronger overall.
GT: Before we go,
do you have a message to your army of fans around the
world?
DG: Just that im proud to be an Aussie
fighting for the world title. as I said I never thought
I would ever be fighting for the world title when I
was in the amateurs, but now. there are better fighters
than me in the world but when I train, I could beat
anyone on the night. I will try my best for them to
win, and also I am happy I have my dad, my wife and
everyone around me helping me be my best.
GT: Danny, from everyone
at Aussiebox, good luck in your quest.
