BACK TO HELL¡± Jorge Arce v Hussein Hussein.
October 8th, Las Vegas.
Earlier
this year, two of the rings little big men went to war.
Each fighter giving everything they had. Passion, heart
and soul, and while we watched in amazement, Jorge Arce
took Hussein Hussein , to hell and back.
The fight was definitely a candidate
for fight of the year [up until that time] and like all
good fights, people want to see them do it again. This
time around, both warriors will be on the undercard of
probably the best, most dramatic fight ever . Diego Corrales
v Jose Luis Castillo, in a night of rematches Although
Hussein [W28 21 kos. L2 D0 ] lost, it was possibly the
best performance of guts and heart by an Australian fighter
since Jeff Fenech's first fight against The Professor
Azumah Nelson in 1991.
The winner of this fight will be destined
for a crack at the WBC Champion, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam.
Arce [W40 30kos. L3 D0] is the interim champion and he
knows how close he is at a shot at the tough southpaw
from Thailand.
Hussein has already faced Wonjongkam for his title in
2003 and put up a tremendous fight before being outpointed
over the 12 rounds.
In their March 2005 slugfest, Hussein
fought most of the fight with a suspected broken jaw,
and showed the heart of a lion , throwing punch after
punch , trying to stay in the fight. Arce was ragged at
times, but in the end , the tough Mexican proved to be
too strong and experienced for Hussein.
When I spoke to Hussein, earlier this
week, he told me "this time I am going to fight a
smarter , better fight. I want to avenge the loss, and
really do a number on him". Im not sure if the Mexican
devil will allow Hussein to fight a smarter fight. He
is a showman and loves to go to war for his fans.
I spoke to Hussein¡¯s trainer,
Billy Hussein and he told me "there will be 17,000
mexicans in the arena but that wont worry us. We are going
there to win and we have been working on using a good
defence and countering Arce with fast, hard shots. Hussy
has been sparring the aggressive Jackson Asiku, and also
Lovemore Ndou, and he has been going great. We will be
ready for anything."
